Guided Visualization: A Perfect Holiday Retreat

Find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Close your eyes if you feel comfortable doing so.


(Begin with a few deep, calming breaths)

Take a deep breath in through your nose… and slowly exhale through your mouth. Again, breathe in a sense of peace… and breathe out any tension you're holding onto. One more time, a deep, cleansing breath in… and a long, slow sigh out. Allow your body to soften and relax with each exhale.

Now, in your mind's eye, imagine you are standing at the beginning of a beautiful, winding path. The air here is fresh and warm, gently scented with blooming flowers and a hint of the sea. The sun is warm on your skin, but a soft breeze keeps you perfectly comfortable.

You begin to walk down this path, feeling the ground beneath your feet. With each step, you feel yourself moving further away from the busyness of everyday life, deeper into a state of calm and tranquility.

The path opens up, and before you is your own private cove. This is your perfect holiday sanctuary. Take a moment to look around.

See the brilliant turquoise water, so clear you can see straight to the sandy bottom. Watch how the sunlight dances and sparkles on the gentle waves as they lap against the shore. The sand is pure white and soft, stretching in a wide arc around the bay. Lush, green palm trees line the beach, their leaves rustling softly in the breeze.

Hear the sounds of this peaceful place. The gentle, rhythmic crash of the waves… the whisper of the wind through the palm fronds… the distant, lonely cry of a seagull soaring high above. All these sounds blend into a soothing symphony of relaxation, washing over you like the waves wash over the sand.

You close your eyes here on your lounge chair, listening to the waves. With each inhale, you breathe in the peaceful, salty air. With each exhale, you release any last bits of worry or stress. They are carried away by the ocean breeze, dissolved into the vastness of the sky and sea.

When you are ready, begin to wiggle your fingers and toes. Gently stretch your arms and legs. Take a final deep, energizing breath in, and as you exhale, slowly and gently open your eyes.
